Trash Burning | Human Rights Watch

Lebanon’s garbage crisis is still ongoing. Yes, the garbage is no longer littering the streets of Beirut,

but that doesn’t mean it’s been properly dealt with. On the contrary: Today the garbage is being burned in open-air dumpsters and trash sites, with the resulting pollution spreading across the entire country and causing various ailments. But for the Lebanese people, there doesn’t seem to be a direct correlation between the increasing illnesses and the burning of garbage. Because to them, what you can’t see can’t hurt you.

So how do we get the Lebanese people to remember their outrage when the trash littered the streets, and push them to act now that it isn’t?
